Jawad and Ali have assembled a useful compilation of media laws particularly in an era of mass communication. In Pakistan there is a need to strengthen to tort law with special reference to the law of defamation in the arena of both print and electronic journalism. During my practice and experience in Washington DC, I saw how the field of law intersected with journalism. The 21st Century promises to be a battle of ideas with journalists and lawyers set to play a significant role. Through this commendable effort, jawad and Ali have taken a positive step which will benefit lawyers and laymen as will as journalists and generalists in Pakistan.
